HOME
The East Providence Chapter of Volunteer Services for Animals is a network of volunteers who take in stray cats and kittens fostering them in their homes. Animals are transported to and from veterinarians for emergencies, spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations. Other activities of the chapter include managing feral cat colonies, and providing emergency care for animals in need.
Featured Cat:
Moss

Moss is a beautiful boy who was born in May of 2009. He has been with EPVSA since he was rescued as a kitten from a junk yard. His mom is Mustang Sally, a notorious mamma cat in East Providence that we were finally able to trap and spay. She was adopted this past spring, as were all of her kittens that we were able to catch over the course of a year... except for Moss.
Moss wants you to know that being a black cat can be a serious disadvantage because it is hard for you to see how handsome he really is. Being a long haired black cat has seriously stacked the deck against him because both features statistically make him harder to adopt.
He looks like he is a giant, but Moss wants you to know he's just poofy and that he only weights 10lbs! Moss is a great cat with a lot of personality. Unfortunately, that personality does not come through on adoption days because he hates being in a cage and the activity of the store is stressful to him. At home, he is curious and affectionate. He greets his foster parents at the door when they come home and he will cry and churp when he wants to play with the other cats and he cant find them. One day, he pulled a stuffed dinosaur out of a pile of things to be donated and started carrying it around the house like it was his baby! He loves his dinosaur so much that they are a package deal. Moss is such a clown, he will help himself to treats or catnip if you leave the bag within reach! Moss will do best in a low key environment without small children, not becasue he is aggressive (which he is not!) but because high activity stresses him and he would probabaly hide alot. He is really good with other cats and currently lives with a ferret in his foster home that he gets along with as well.
Moss is neutered and up to date on his shots.
